I'm finding remarkably little discussion of this in other major news sites.

The YouTube channel PolyMatter did however run an excellent explainer a few weeks ago, providing more details, including of debt, foreign exchange rates, balance of trade, the links between food shortages and political instability, and other emperiled economies, notably Pakistan.
