Ask HN: What is your most hated dev job you've ever had?

These people can go work for other employers, or even start competing businesses. This type of agitative behavior is detrimental to productivity and serves no purpose. If they wanted the company to succeed so much why didn’t they just become management themselves and have a positive impact that way?
CEO is on point about the counter productive SJW culture. It fascinating to see it also have a foothold on HN https://twitter.com/jespow/status/1536978821345292288?s=21&t...

Who is doing that?
Where does it say anything about blockchains in the article and how often do you think about how much you hate them?
Ahh the good old Hacker news take on crypto. You must be proud of your originality.
I’ve never understood shaving. Why not just buy a trimmer and trim it down to 1mm? Much more convenient, faster and cheaper. Also there’s very little visual difference - especially now that everything is remote.
Why would you use the word filipinx when there’s already the gender neutral word Filipino? Also doesn’t filipinx exclude Filipinos outside of the American diaspora? Then what do you call Filipinos outside of that geographical area?
See, you’re digging your own semantic hole with all this political correctness.
It could provide as a store and transpiration means of value in times of crisis. For instance some of the Ukrainian banks are now shutdown. If you had crypto you could access your wealth. Same thing applies for Russian citizens who have nothing to do with the war but will soon have their assets frozen. Did you consider all use cases before posting, or just glee at yet another anti crypto post on HN and thought “yay! I get to post something negative about crypto again today”?
I don’t think you feel bad, I think you feel good about shitting on crypto.
China has banned Bitcoin several times, there’s been hacks, there’s been central banks going after crypto - yet it’s still here. Why do you believe the whole thing might fall apart?
What you’re missing is that whenever there’s panic selling there’s always someone on the other side finding a great discount.
Web 3 has components of what he’s nostalgic about. Especially when you start using products such as Spooky Swap and Trader Joe. There’s no cookie notices, no ads, no dark patterns.
Too bad HN absolutely loathes crypto in general, because I do see a glimmer of hope in the wild wild West that is web 3
But wouldn't you first look up that developers prior work history on the blockchain? I'd just ask what they've deployed in the past and could then easily verify if they are skilled or a bad actor. As for the funds being stolen I think we're just at the beginning of crypto custody services. It's like in the eighteen hundreds saying banks are a bad idea because they get robbed all the time.
You have a three day old account and all you do is post negative comments about crypto. Seems like a lowly way of life.
You never provided counter arguments. How can I trust you if you’re just an anonymous person online stating something without backing it up? At least the crypto guy had some examples. How about you state why those applications in questions have no utility?
How is this helping the conversation Brian?
What if you’re stuck in Turkey with its current inflation and want to hedge against it? Or what if you’re someone who would like to in a permissionless way buy Bitcoin options?
What the Hacker News crowd generally misses about crypto is that it’s technology, ideology and finance in one package. They keep on arguing against the storage model itself (centralized vs decentralized) and miss the bigger picture.
So many of these anti blockchain comments remind me of the initial HN reaction to Dropbox and people saying that “hey, you can just set this up yourself on a Linux machine”.
You’re missing the point. A 3 trillion dollar industry doesn’t give a shit about your database takes and how it’s all a bubble - we’re way beyond that.
