Brand New Laptop or Desktop. Desktops can be cheaper $300 ~ 500 range. Laptop (oh lets go with a New Dell XPS) So we see $1200 / 12 = $100 a month. Yes you keep the hardware at the end of the project, or maybe the employee breaks the laptop. So many directions at where costs can increase. Support for that laptop? (warranty, and on-site tech) That's more than $100 a month isn't it. Add in the per seat licensing for Office prices can be as low a $5/mth for Office 365.

Windows 365 AVD (to the spec of $31/month) at that price 31 x 12 = $372 per employee a year. Something that would pretty much used only when needed. Employee breaks it? No costs, revert/snapshot/recovery is part of the VD subscription. Also to note the additional benefits with a E# subscription. Defender ATP, the IT staff can remote into the AVD without worrying if the employee has setup their home wifi correctly.

The key thing I see here, is the benefit of allowing employees to keep using their own hardware, to access a VDI (AVD) that is virtually to the required specs needed. The employee doesn't need anything new, unless they want a better experience.

This essentially opens up the ability for Apple & Chrome laptop users to be able to operate in a Windows environment Virtually. iPad Pro... running a Windows VD. The company didn't have to buy a laptop for that Apple user.

I've seen a increase in a userbase that uses Chromebooks. Being able to remote into a Windows VM capable of handling the tasks assigned to them while using a Celeron with 4GB or RAM. While the Windows VM is a 8core/16GB RAM/128GB storage. The employee only needs reliable internet.
