I think on the whole America is in decline quite a bit. We don’t see it yet in terms of GDP or economic output, but the politics have changed considerably over the years and that is going to have a lasting impact. Mitch McConnell is singly responsible for this. One party doesn’t vote for the other party’s initiatives, not even one vote. If anyone votes they are targeted and primaried. We don’t realize it but this is what happens on a much worse scale in poor countries as the only objective in those countries for poliiticians is to siphon money for themselves. Getting things done is never on the cards. We are on that same path.

This is completely unrelated to their drive business. Feels coherent given Dropbox is probably used for storing the content so people don’t have to move it all to some other website creation company. I don’t know how much this will stick but worth a shot for Dropbox
IMo, The ballooning costs in healthcare are not from not knowing how to reduce the costs or make the system more efficient. There is entrenched interests/ businesses that will lose 100s of billions if it were replaced or shifted. They absolutely will not let it happen. Spending a few billions to buy politicians is justifiable for them. That is the main reason we are in this mess and will always be. May be I am too pessimistic, but Google, Amazon put together is not enough to change it

None of these metrics will change the political stance our one majority party took. They have shut their eyes and ears and are hell bent on preserving the interests of the lobbying companies and fetishizing “free market competition”. I can bet a sizeable amount of money that nothing will change in the next 50yrs even. Today there is still a rule that a hospital cannot say no to a patient, I strongly believe that is one rule that will fall down next. It makes too much profit for the health care providers to not attack that. In fact after Roe fell I can see that as the next one.
Tangential to health care debt, Some times I wonder if the only true innovation happens in facilitating debt and making huge debt seem like easily tackleable. 30yr mortgage, 15 and 10yr arm, car payments sold as “only $199 a month!”. Buy now pay later is the latest in a long line of these encouraging people to pile on debt.

I have always thought companies like BBB and Trustpilot are scams. They don’t about consumers as the companies are their customers. They are the one they target and get money from. So I believe with them all bad reviews can be wiped out for a fee
Crap, this is going to be turned into a political issue now because of Musk. Irrespective of the legitimacy of the investigation, it is now going to be branded as a witch hunt. Musk is shrewd, he explicitly went to the party that fully condones sexual misconduct with their leaders just before his own issue came out and the whole party is fully behind him and without questions. A lot of my friends blindly support him even those that never paid attention to him before. That party affiliation has served him well with Twitter too, where the Texas AG did him a solid by launching an investigation into bots. This is a mess all the way down. Musk has become a huge distraction at this point for his companies, at the least Tesla. He is too powerful for the board to replace him though
Isn't this very similar to the betting market for sports for example? The betting markets are knee jerk themselves, who know how their mindset in general changing over time, they may be becoming more short sighted and so react on yesterday's news. IMO, Just because there is money involved doesn't make it accurate.
For me it’s simple. Woodworking is a problem that I can solve. I mean I am trying to meet market demand and producing a product that I know will be used. Now the part of planning, design, “procuring funding”, building the product and “selling” it is all a story end to end.
This is going to absolute lead to price gouging because today you can only items in one segment. For example price of bread to other bread. But if you start using cost per use all of a sudden you will be forced to justify 50 bucks for a loaf of bread or 100 bucks for a peanut butter bottle, after all a jar of peanut butter lasts a long time. Yes supply and demand and competition will still exist but they will all learn and adapt.

I have see an over reliance on leetcode style question in startups actually. May be more fairly, "we want to be google" style companies which is every startup. In fact some large companies have a more relaxed way of interviewing.

By definition a white noise podcast cannot play ads. So these have to purely paid podcasts. It’s interesting to learn that there are quite a few people that want a different sound or a variety of sounds every night to sleep. That is because I am guessing that is what the podcast provides of value.
This is just assuming malice without any information. Dangerous to do in any situation
The talk should have allowed to go through. The post I think said it right, people wanted to shut it down and the only way to do it is to discredit the speaker because they know there is truth to the arguments.
However we should step back and think about how important it in the American context. What purpose is that talk going to serve? I don’t know if it does anything other than satisfying esoteric learning needs of a few. It may be an issue in he US but the problem may be among single digit or double digit individuals at best. Is it worth spending cycles on it?
